No. You continue to use your existing email client (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes etc.). Come Alive only impacts the email after it is sent out, therefore it is seamless to the email sender.
No, Come Alive is compatible with all ISPs. All that will change is that you will not send emails via your ISP anymore, but through the Come Alive's server.
Free version: Yes you can use Come Alive conditional to setting up your Gmail account to be accessed on a desktop email client such as Microsoft Outlook or Thunderbird. We are then able to route your emails successfully through the Come Alive server.
Premium version: Yes, this platform allows for the changing of SMTP settings, allowing your emails to route via the Come Alive server.
We have careful and considered controls in place to make sure that all client data is kept separate and secure.
Come Alive provides email services to its clients utilising a multi-tenancy architected solution, hosted at an ISP, using a Tier1 datacentre.
The administration of this solution is done via a browser-based frontend, accessed via https. All actions, both system and user, are recorded in the audit log, which only privileged users have access to.
A component of this architecture is a SMTP relay. This relay is set up to only allow/ accept emails from authenticated sources. We perform regular vulnerability scans on the Come Alive server. A firewall is in place which permits only certain actions via certain ports, the rest of the server is locked down.
Once an authenticated email is received, the Come Alive database is interrogated to determine what branding should be applied to the email according to the rules set-up. Once the branding is applied, the details of the mail are logged (mail headers, not the mail body) and the mail is delivered to its intended recipient(s).
Although a Come Alive enhanced email is, by definition, a solicited email and therefore clearly not SPAM, the reality is that all emails needs to pass through Spam Filters. To ensure that your emails are classified as SPAM free, Come Alive is subjected to rigorous tests on an ongoing basis so that our clients can enjoy all the benefits of our product without the need to worry about the delivery of their emails.

Yes. Come Alive’s main feature is its multi-faceted banner management system. Everytime you send an email to a recipient, your banner will appear when he or she opens their email. Banners are interactive and can click through to web pages, landing pages, downloads or any other linkable online resource.
Multiple banners can be utilised according to your required specifications. This includes multiple rotations, scheduling, assignment by sender or recipient group or even by recipient domain, and key word.
The options are just about endless and really allows for a targeted marketing solution as opposed to only branding.
No, and that is a big NO! Come Alive is an everyday email marketing solution and not a newsletter/ promotional mailer solution. We have certain controls in place which ensure that distribution emails to multiple recipients are not sent from the Come Alive platform. Everyday email does not cater for the functionality that is needed to adhere to the Consumer Protection Act, such as easy to use opt-out mechanism options and querying of the national “do not contact” registry.
If your emailing messages fit the description of a “promotion” then you should be using a product that does fulfil these requirements. Rocketmailer is such a product.
Traditional HTML signatures residing within your email client may cause the following problems:
- The images are large (weighted) and will add considerably to the overall size of the email.
- Different email clients render HTML in different ways and as such, the consistency of the appearance might be affected in various ways, resulting in your emails appearing unprofessional.
Come Alive tests the HTML and Plain Text Mark-up on various different email clients in order to ensure that the mail being delivered has the impact that was intended when creating the template.
There is no intelligent reporting & alert mechanism within HTML signatures, whereas Come Alive can give you this information at the press of a button.
Central management control for all staff emails, whereas HTML signatures is a manual process.
Yes, by using standard exclusion codes which you insert into your subject line, the Come Alive software is able to exclude:
- Only the banner, with the disclaimer and signature remaining
- The banner and signature, with the disclaimer remaining
- The banner, signature and disclaimer
The exclusion code will be removed from the subject line and the recipient of the email will not be aware that it has been used.
