A Domain name in it’s simplest term is just an Internet Website address. Let’s say your company was called “My Company”, you could have an address such as "www.mycompany.co.za". The actual address used by computers is numerical in format and is referred to as an IP address (for example: 184.108.40.206). Domain names came about as it was obviously much easier to remember a name instead of a set of numbers.
Why do you need a Domain Name?
In the business world, a good domain name is vital for branding and awareness. Domain names are as common as telephone numbers, and should be displayed on all correspondence.
Domain names are used in both email addresses (e.g. email@example.com) and website addresses (e.g. www.domain.co.za).
Kindly note, when you register a domain there are specific Terms and Conditions that apply with domain registrations both locally and internationally. To read more about these T&C's, click here.
